/lab/poker/ — voice and framing rules

This lab is performance coaching, not addiction recovery. The rest of briannuckols.com carries a clinical-recovery voice on gambling content (19+ blog posts under topic: gambling, the GEAR assessment at ~/gambling-gear/). The two voices must not contaminate each other.

What this lab is

A decision-support system for an online poker development arc targeting top 1% at 6-max NLHE cash plus high-upside MTTs. Hand-by-hand decision capture lives in the poker-coach CLI at ~/poker-decision-support/ (Phase A). This Astro lab is the public-facing dashboard + curriculum spine that reads the CLI’s exported poker-stats.json.

Voice rules

• Use domain language: solver, GTO Wizard, EV in big blinds, Brier score, leak, ICM, range, equity, board texture, position, exploit deviation, PT4, Hand2Note.
• Use Annie Duke and Jared Tendler vocabulary: resulting bias, kill criteria, premortem, bet thinking, A-to-C-game spectrum, inchworm.
• Never use clinical-recovery framing: no “problem gambling,” no “harm reduction,” no “recovery journey,” no “gambling disorder,” no “compulsive.”
• Never treat tilt as pathology. Tilt is a calibrated mental-game variable to monitor and resolve, in the Tendler sense.
• Never apologize for the project or hedge with “responsible gaming” disclaimers. The framing is performance optimization for a serious craft.
